Director
As a Director of Desert Capital REIT, James L.
George, applies his more than 30 years of legal
experience to counsel on financial matters and
develop innovative solutions designed to increase
the continued growth of Desert Capital REIT.
Headquartered in Lemars, Iowa, Mr. George’s
legal practice is engaged primarily in real estate
matters, estate planning, probate and income tax
law. He was appointed by the chief judge of the
third judicial district of Iowa as Judicial Hospitalization
Referee for Plymouth County, Iowa, and served
in that position from 1979 to 2001. In this capacity,
he presided over involuntary hospitalization cases.
In his role as a Director of Desert Capital REIT,
Mr. George’s extensive legal knowledge allows
him to absorb and interpret complex financial
information, while applying a common-sense approach
to resolving issues. The nature of his law practice
brings Mr. George face-to-face with the general
public and a wide range of clients every day.
As a result, his strengths lie in his ability
to anticipate what Desert Capital REIT’s
shareholders will expect from the company, and
in his role as board member, act to meet their
expectations.
Mr. George earned his Bachelor of Arts degree
from the University of Iowa in 1969. After serving
in the U.S. Army, Mr. George received a Juris
Doctor degree from Creighton University in 1973.
